This section covers passenger airlines serving the United States of America. At present, the page is under development.
Considered by many to be the birth place of aviation, the US has a lengthy and trend-setting history when it comes to the airline industry.
Although the country does not have an official flag carrier, American Airlines is now considered to be such. Before it went bankrupt, Pan American World Airways wore that mantle.
The U.S. presently has six “legacy carriers” in operation. These air carriers have a long and
storied history and generally offer international flights, and passenger amenities such as lounges, business or premium class service, and rewards programs.
The Big Six:
Although the “Big 6″ name has stuck with these air carriers for some time, Southwest Airlines is actually one of the largest airlines in the US.
