Avionics Engineer - Bend OR - Cessna Aircraft Company

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Employee will be involved in the design of avionics & electrical systems for FAR Part 23 General Aviation light aircraft and will be prepare and reviewing engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, reports, specifications and documentations ensuring the designed systems meet or exceed FAA regulations in terms of safety and airworthiness qualifications. This job will require interaction with DERs, FAA, Avionics shop, M.E., Q.A. and R&D.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Related schooling at an accredited college or university, ability to perform job self directed and with minimal supervision, to communicate effectively in verbal and written means and to make decisions based on researched facts a must. Knowledge in CAD (CATIA) and familiarity with FAA regulations is a plus.

Avionics Engineer

Job Purpose:

Provide leadership, technical direction, and assistance to the Technical and Flight Operations Divisions in the operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft avionics systems – auto-pilot, communications, electrical, fire warning, instruments, navigation systems and related components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain awareness of aircraft avionics systems maintenance program and project changes
  • Implement FAA Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer service bulletins
  • Interface with all levels of Atlas Air and vendor overhaul shop provider
  • Provide on-site assessment of overhaul shop, hangar and line maintenance activities to anticipate problems and abnormal trends
  • Provide technical assistance including the use and proper interpretation of data and technical instructions
  • Review reported aircraft avionics systems malfunctions, analyze any undesirable trends and implement corrective actions
  • Review effectiveness of maintenance actions in order to identify any training needs

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License desirable
  • FCC license desirable
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and contract vendors
  • Good computer skills
  • Valid passport
  • Travel required

JOB SUMMARY:

To maintain all aircraft and related equipment in a serviceable condition. Mechanics will be required to inspect and test systems, component parts used in their work and sign for the work performed. The work of a Mechanic shall consist of any and all work generally recognized as, but not limited to, a Mechanic’s work on or about the aircraft, its component parts and related equipment performed at the AmeriJet Principal Maintenance Facility, other approved maintenance facilities/agencies or at line stations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Will assure that work is accomplished in the best workmanship manner and that an airworthy condition exists on all work performed by him.
* Will verify the work as outlined under various inspection and/or maintenance forms as directed by the Director of Maintenance and will sign off all work performed at the time the work is completed.
* Will notify the Director of Maintenance immediately of any condition that may arise that could present him with a problem of parts, materials, airworthiness or workmanship.
* Will consult with the Director of Maintenance if any dispute arises with the Inspection Department.
* Will have sufficient hand tools to perform his duties as required.
* Will be responsible to the Director of Maintenance for the accomplishment of all work assigned to him in accordance with policies and procedures established by AmeriJet, Manufacturer and the FAA.
* Will be responsible for properly performing all work assigned him in accordance with approved maintenance procedures, for recording all work performed and assuming responsibility for that work as indicated by his signature or initials.
* The licensed mechanic shall be responsible for the work of any unlicensed mechanic working with him.
* The Director of Quality Control may delegate the licensed mechanic for the Clearing and Signing-Off of Items that were inspected by him. The mechanic must assure that in clearing any item within the inspection category, he has not in any way performed or accomplished the subject work.
* Mechanics may be required to instruct less experienced employees

Avionics Supervisor

Duties:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience with Corporate & General Aviation avionics systems.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Experienced in Part 135/145 operations and have a broad knowledge of FAA regulations.
  • Corporate & GA experience required.
  • Background check and DOT drug/alcohol screening.
