TSA Transportation Security Officer (TSO) (Screener)

You will perform a variety of duties related to providing security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft. You will be responsible for identifying dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and/or on passengers; and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft. You are required to perform various tasks such as: wanding, pat down searches, operation of x-ray machines, lift and carry baggage (weighing up to 70 pounds), and screening and ticket review using electronic and imaging equipment. As a TSO, you may perform passenger screening, baggage screening or both. You are expected to perform these duties in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Communicate with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain focus and awareness within an environment containing numerous distractions, people, and noise.
  • Stand and remain standing for periods up to 4 hours without sitting.
  • Repeatedly lift and carry an object weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Work within a stressful environment, which includes noise from alarms, machinery, and people, distractions, time pressure, disruptive and angry passengers, and the requirement to identify and locate potentially life-threatening devices and devices intended on creating massive destruction.
  • Make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of 10-year background check.
Detail oriented.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Basic writing and math skills.
Ability to operate personal computer fax machine, calculator, and other office equipment.
Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
Knowledge of in-flight preferred.

A Security Officer shall be an employee whose work assignment consists of Company required guarding and protecting of gates, entrances, buildings, facilities and other designated posts in and about premises designated by the Company; the inspecting and recording as required of parcels and containers being carried on or off such premises by employees and non-employees; the guarding or inspecting as required of any property, instrument, facility or vehicle while on Company premises; the patrolling of designated areas and may include the accomplishment of notifier rounds by turning keys in the appropriate receptacle(s); the protecting against and reporting to the Company as required any act of sabotage, destruction of, damage to or theft of property or facilities, or work in process or any threat of sabotage, destruction of, damage to or theft of property of facilities, or dangerous conditions or irregularities discovered or observed and taking necessary safe-guarding steps when practicable, and assisting in apprehending the guilty party or parties; or any other duties involving internal security and the protection of premises, and may include the staffing of control centers, as designated by the Company. Security Officers may be responsible for the guiding and assisting of emergency medical and/or fire department personnel to areas of need. A Security Officer who has completed his probationary period may, in addition to his work responsibilities as a Security Officer, be required to train another employee in the Security Officers’ classification
