Southwest Airlines is accepting applications for an Operations Agent. Operations Agents at Southwest Airlines provide legendary Customer Service to our Customers desiring to travel and use our baggage/cargo service at our airport locations.   They also maintain positive relationships with all Internal and External Customers to ensure the success of Southwest Airlines.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for opening/closing of the Station at which they are working;
- Handles Station AMS and radio communications traffic;
- Prepares dispatch release forms and collects weather reports from informational system for Crewmembers and keeps all Station Teammembers appraised of flight and weather information;
- Arranges fueling for aircraft as required;
- Prepares the weight and balance of the aircraft;
- Operates the jet bridge to aircraft;
- Ensures the timely boarding of the aircraft;
- Checks Cargo information for   each flight;
- Resolve Customer situations by providing Positively Outrageous Service;
- Completes paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures of flight departures/arrivals, statistical reports on each flight and enters into Company’s information system as required;
- May perform the duties of a Cargo Agent, Ramp   Agent or Provisioning Agent.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move items of 70 pounds or   more;
- Must be able to carry items up and down stairs from aircraft to ramp area;
- May be exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions, jet and machinery noises;
- Must maintain well groomed appearance and meet uniform appearance standards. (Agent’s weight must be proportionate to height presenting a neat appearance in uniform. Â Â Woman’s uniforms range from size 0 – 26, men’s range from waist size 27-42 inches.)
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent; College coursework or degree would be an asset;
- Two years of airline/military related work experience preferred;
- Must have a valid U.S. drivers license with a good driving record;
- Ability to work fast and under tight timelines to ensure timely flight departures with quick turn arounds and the ability to handle many functions at once with many different offices and/or Team of people;
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986;
- You will need to be available to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays and overtime;
- Ability read and write English;
- Typing and keyboarding skills;
- Attend and successfully complete a training program in Dallas, Texas with a 90% grade point average;
