Job Description:

PURPOSE

This position will be responsible for finding appropriate routes and filing flight plans for crew members using software designated by the company. The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, monitoring aircraft schedules and changes, checking and inserting applicable weather and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) into each flight plan, generating and transmitting flight plans for flights to all areas designated in the Standard Operating Procedures, and canceling unused flight plans with Air Traffic Control as needed. In addition, it will be necessary to collect all other information appropriate to each flight plan by reviewing any aircraft limitations, utilizing FAA or company preferred routes, optimizing cruise altitudes based on winds, inserting alternates based on weather conditions or restrictions, and constant evaluation of all potential weather and air traffic control related constraints. The position is responsible for all aspects of international travel including setting up inbound and outbound customs, submitting inbound and outbound APIS (Advanced Passenger Information System), coordinating with handlers of arrival and departure information, arranging flights plans and ensuring proper paperwork for crew, passengers and aircraft.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Compile flight plans using company-approved software for each flight as designated by the Standard Operating Procedures, File flight plans using FAA or preferred company routes, Carefully look at all weather and air traffic control constraints (i.e. Airspace Flow Programs, Ground Stops, Ground Delays, reroutes) and apply to flight plans as needed throughout the day, Review aircraft Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs) and apply restrictions to applicable flight plans as needed, Review and insert all applicable weather and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) into each flight plan, Insert alternate airports where applicable, based on weather and/or aircraft limitations or restrictions, Optimize cruising altitudes based on current and forecast winds, Transmit flight plans to crew within 90 minutes of proposed departure time, Stay current with aircraft and schedule changes throughout the shift, Cancel unused flight plans with Air Traffic Control, Arranging customs (inbound and outbound), Submitting inbound and outbound APIS (Advanced Passenger Information System), Coordinating with handlers on arrival and departure information, Ensuring proper international paperwork for crew, passengers and aircraft, Address crew member questions and requests received by email or phone, Other duties may be assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree or equivalent from a college or technical school; or 2-4 years related experience preferred, Dispatch License required. Successful candidates hired into the position will be required to obtain their dispatch license within 6 months, Knowledge and understanding of weather and weather related reports, air traffic control advisories and reroutes, and Notices to Airmen are required, Knowledge of Part 91, 121 and 135 Federal Aviation Regulations preferred, Previous aviation experience preferred.
